Faves Roundup: Because Frankly, Long Weekends Are A Mixed Bag
Too much sun, too many opinions, not enough alone time? Been there. Let’s reset.
You read the post, so you know…We’ve already been through the emotional hallway, brie-smuggling, and a surprise psychic cameo. It was a deeply personal share for me, so the fact that it’s getting traction is both terrifying and thrilling…
And then, of course, came the long weekend.
Which, as we all know, has a knack for unearthing its own emotional debris.
So consider this your unofficial recovery kit:
Songs to play. Beans to marinate. Desserts to plot. Sunnies to screenshot. And one very pink jar in the fridge that might just shift your mood.
I already shared a few of these in Sunday Stories, but I wanted you, my fellow non-gatekeepers, to get the full scoop and more.
More flavor. More delight. More links to text your best friend.
Let’s call it a palate cleanser to start the week (and the New Moon in Gemini).
Because obviously, I’d never gatekeep this from you.
Always in My Fridge: Perfectly Pink Quick Pickled Radish
Crunchy, punchy, perfectly pink and honestly? They make me happy every single time I open the fridge.
I wish I could credit the original source (this one’s from the Blogspot era), but I’ve adapted it just enough over the years that it’s become mine. I put them on everything: shawarma bowls, black bean salads (like the one I shared earlier), sandwiches, you name it.
Here’s the gist:
2 cups apple cider vinegar (I love the tang)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 bunches of radish, washed
Optional: red onion, jalapeño, a clove of garlic if you’re spicy like that
Heat gently just to dissolve the sugar, then let it cool while you wash and chop your radishes into half-moons. Grab one of those jars you’ve been saving (you know the one), and make it your official pickled radish jar.
Pack it with radishes, pour the vinegar over, let it come to room temp, pop the lid on, and you’re done.
A few notes:
— Champagne vinegar is lovely too if ACV is too sharp. Also adjust sugar to taste.
You don’t need spices. You don’t need canning gear. You do need these in your life this summer. Because nothing says “my kitchen is thriving” like a jar of hot pink in the fridge. And if you’re looking for more pink in your life, try these Spicy Pink Palomas (scroll to bottom).
FAVES: Obsessions, links, and things you'll probably text to someone before finishing this scroll.
Speaking of pink—Gwyneth’s got them, Brooke’s wearing them, and I’ve been obsessed with them ever since meeting the founders at a Liberty Road event in L.A hosted by Nada Jones. Them = Caddis, the brand. The chunky readers, the pink sunnies, the entire vibe - so very LA and I”m here for it all.
Also currently loving the I Am Me campaign by
and Jones Road Beauty.
“I Am Me encourages focusing on what you like about yourself, and embracing what makes you unique. It promotes freeing yourself from impossible standards and encourages a kinder shift in the narrative for how we speak to ourselves.”
Yes, 1,000 x’s yes. This is the kind of beauty culture I’d like to see more of: personal, and powerful. Would also love to see more stories of more women in these features, especially women with stories like ours. Maybe I should nominate the women of Photo Club for this??
In fact, it reminded me of this…
Stop everything and watch Jacky O’Shaughnessy, the 62-year-old supermodel from American Apparel, as featured in Style Like U’s What's Underneath Project. (Watch with a box of tissues)
3. Love Cake? You need to know about Cake Picnic
A gathering for people who believe dessert is the main event and who understand the sacred magic of a well-placed blanket.
Think of it as the breezier, sweeter cousin to Le Dîner en Blanc: less white linen panic, more buttercream-forward energy. Yes, there are a few rules, but only the kind that make the experience even lovelier:
Bring a cake. A real one. Bonus points for family recipes and anything requiring a bundt pan. Wear something you can eat cake in. Think picnic chic, Meg Ryan in You’ve Got Mail, or the version of you that lives in a Nancy Meyers film. Share generously. Swapsies encouraged. Compliments mandatory. Keep your drama at home but do bring your Nana. Or at least her lemon loaf.
Honestly, it just might be my ideal gathering and reminded me of one of the best books I’ve read on why how we gather matters:
. Her premise? Gatherings shouldn’t just happen, they should have purpose, shape, and soul. And this one? It happens to take the cake.Final Faves: Speed Round & Honorable Mentions
Tea Towels As A Coat:
Yes, really. And yes, it works. This is the kind of brilliance that stops me mid-scroll.
Trinny Woodall’s Latest Zara Shop-Up:
It's fabulous, as always.

Shameless Reminder: Listen to The Live FAB Life Podcast here I had a brilliant conversation with Naomi all about the shiftiness of self-perception and how to fall in love with yourself…in photos.
Until next week. xx Lisa
Oh my god, CAKE PICNIC!
